Layered Lace Menu Board

   Happy 2012 everyone! I hope you all had a fabulous holiday season. What is everyone's New Years Resolutions? I want to craft more! I have so many trash to treasure projects taking up space in our spare room it's ridiculous...more on that later. Mr. Awesome and I have many goals for the new year including, eating at home more and being more organized. The perfect project to help us on our path to success? Our new Menu Board!

   I know that we all love us some southwestern art right? I mean, really, who wouldn’t love to have the mauve pink coyotes standing next to the light blue cactus howling at the hideous pink bird, pink donkey, and the blue cat wearing what looks like a pink sweater...(wow that is a lot of pink!). I’ll tell you who…..THIS GIRL! Sorry to all those mauve pink coyote fans out there, it simply doesn’t match my décor. I found this 16x20 frame for super cheap at Goodwill. It was in awesome condition despite the art behind the glass. 

   I knew I wanted the frame to become a menu board. Mr. Awesome loves to plan out what we are going to have for dinner! He would prefer to plan it out for the entire month and I am awful at planning dinner for multiple days so we compromised on planning one week at a time.

   I went to my trusty Home Depot for paint and discovered Martha Stewart paint was on sale since they are discontinuing the line so Martha Stewart paint it was.

   I had this lace sitting around that I got for 60% off from a local fabric store that was going out of business. When I got it, I didn’t have any set ideas for it. Just knew I had to have it! When I decided I wanted to do a menu board, I immediately thought to use the lace. I envisioned a layered lace look as my background. I cut my lace in strips to the length needed and then arranged them on the 16x20 skinny canvas I got for half off at Michaels.

   Once I had them arranged how I wanted, I hot glued the edges of the lace to the canvas. After that was all done, I put my canvas and glass back in the frame. Super easy right? 

   The hardest part of this project was putting the stickers down on the glass. This step required so much concentration that I failed to take pictures….sorry guys. I found my stickers at Joanns and used a half off coupon…yay for coupons!

   I have to say that I LOVE how it turned out! It goes perfectly in our dining room and it’s fun to plan ahead of time what we are having for dinner.  

   So what do you think, Cute menu board or mauvey pink coyotes and blue cats? My vote is for the menu board!
